E’ possibile studiare l’umore di una popolazione attraverso l’uso che fa delle reti sociali ? Memore della straordinaria ricerca “We feel fine “, ho provato a creare un grafico, attraverso l’applicazione “Lessico “, rappresentante il volume di messaggi inseriti sulle bacheche di Facebook (wall) contenenti le parole “felice” e “triste”.
Il risultato è che i messaggi di felicità superano quelli di tristezza in coincidenza col periodo delle festività natalizie. Prevedibile, certo, ma lo scorso anno non era successo. Al contrario ho notato che tra la popolazione anglofona di Facebook la parola “happy” è sempre di gran lunga più citata di “sad”.
Il mio è un esperimento semplice e poco significativo, ma sarebbe interessante uno studio sistematico che approfondisca la predisposizione ad esprimere i propri sentimenti all’interno dei social network.

propongo una lettura più terra-terra e molto meno affascinante: l’anno scorso Facebook non era ancora uno strumento trasversale usato da qualche milione di persone per farsi gli auguri di Natale e di “felice” anno nuovo. Resta il fatto che l’idea sia intrigante.
